MRS. IRISH SKILLFULLY BLENDS LECTURE, INDIVIDUAL WORK, COLLABORATIVE DISCUSSION, AND CONSISTENTLY PREPARES STUDENTS FOR A RIGOROUS AP EXAM. AT THE SAME TIME, SHE CREATES A SAFE SPACE FOR STUDENTS TO CONTRIBUTE IDEAS THAT ARE ANALYTICAL, CREATIVE, AND EVALUATIVE. I WOULD LIKE TO RECOGNIZE AN IMPORTANT ACCOMPLISHMENT RELATED TO ONE OF OUR HIGHEST PRIORITIES, CAMPUS SAFETY AND SECURITY. TONIGHT, WE WANT TO CONGRATULATE PRINCIPAL SHATINA LEWIS AND THE ENTIRE TEAM AT CARROLL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL FOR SUCCESSFULLY PASSING THEIR SECOND TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY INTRUDER AUDIT THIS SCHOOL YEAR.
EVEN MORE NOTABLY, THIS YEAR MARKS THE FIRST TIME CARROLL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL HAS PASSED AN INTRUDER AUDIT SINCE THE TEA BEGAN CONDUCTING THESE AUDITS IN 2022, AND THEY PASSED IT TWICE THIS YEAR ALONE.
THAT ACCOMPLISHMENT SPEAKS TO THE FOCUS, PREPARATION, AND TEAMWORK OF EVERYONE INVOLVED IN ENSURING THAT SAFETY PROCEDURES ARE FOLLOWED AND THAT OUR CAMPUS REMAINS SECURE. AND THAT DIRECTLY CORRELATES TO WHEN WE STARTED TO MOVE DYSLEXIA FROM 504 TO SPECIAL ED.
AND IF YOU CAN SEE THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, WE'VE KIND OF STABILIZED OUR INCREASES, BUT DO NOTICE THAT OUR PERCENTAGE WENT UP JUST A SMIDGE. SO AS WE ARE LOSING ENROLLMENT, OUR SPECIAL ED NUMBERS ARE STAYING ABOUT THE SAME NUMBERS.
AND YOU CAN SEE THAT 22, 23, 24, THAT'S WHEN YOU SEE THAT BIG DECREASE IN THE 504 NUMBERS.
THOSE ARE THE KIDS THAT THEN MOVED TO SPECIAL EDUCATION.
BUT WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO START SEEING IS THOSE 504 NUMBERS NOW STARTING TO REBOUND, BECAUSE THOSE KIDDOS HAVE NOW FINISHED THEIR DYSLEXIA PROGRAM. AND A LOT OF THEM ARE GOING TO BE GOING BACK INTO 504.
SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I FEEL LIKE IS IMPORTANT WITH 504.
53% OF THE STUDENTS IN 504 ARE IN THE 9TH TO 12TH GRADE.
SO THEY'RE AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL. 30% ARE AT MIDDLE SCHOOL AND ONLY 18% ARE AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
SO WE HAVE A TOTAL PERCENTAGE OF ABOUT 11.5%.
A TYPICAL DISTRICT IN THE STATE OF TEXAS HAS ABOUT 7% TO 10% IN 504.
SO WE HAVE A FEW MORE. AGAIN ON THE NEXT IS THE KEY TAKEAWAYS.

AND OUR FOUR LARGEST CLASSES ARE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL TOO.

SO WE SEE MOST OF THEM IN THE YOUNGER GRADES.

GOOD EVENING. I'M HERE TODAY TO PROVIDE A BRIEF UPDATE ON THE CELL TOWER AS WELL AS THE PROPERTY HERE AT OLD DRAGON STADIUM. AS YOU KNOW, THE SALE OF THE OLD DRAGON STADIUM PROPERTY IS CONTINGENT ON.
THE SALE TO THE CITY IS CONTINGENT UPON THE AGREEMENT WITH VERTICAL BRIDGE, OUR CELL TOWER OPERATOR.
AND SO I'M HERE TO JUST PROVIDE A LITTLE UPDATE.
WE HAVE WORKED PRETTY HARD OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS TO FINALLY GET TO KIND OF THIS WEEK WHERE WE STARTED TO MOVE SOME GROUND AND HOPEFULLY WE'LL BE ABLE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A SIGNED CONTINGENCY AGREEMENT TO HAVE THAT TOWER MOVED.
SO THE DISTRICT, IN MARCH, WE WENT TO THE CITY COUNCIL, GOT APPROVAL FOR THE SPECIAL USE PERMITS, THE PLAT REVISION AND THE VARIANCES FOR THE TOWER MOVING ONTO OUR PROPERTY.
AND SO WE HAVE BEEN DILIGENTLY WORKING AND IT LOOKS LIKE IN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO WE'LL HAVE A SIGNED AGREEMENT. AND SO I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO PRESENTING THAT TO YOU AT THE UPCOMING MEETING IN MARCH OR EARLY APRIL FOR YOUR APPROVAL.
